Contact

We aim to respond within 1–3 business days. Account-deletion requests are processed within 30 days of verified receipt, as described in our Privacy Policy.

Languages supported: English, Spanish (Español), Portuguese (Português), French (Français), Arabic (العربية), Korean (한국어). Please write in whichever of these you prefer — we translate replies where needed.

Common questions

Why do I need to create an account?

You don’t. Ktaba is designed to work fully offline on a single device with no account at all — the King James Version is bundled in the app and all of your highlights, notes, bookmarks, and reading progress are stored locally on your device.

An account is optional and only exists to enable cross-device sync of your notes and reading progress. If you don’t turn on sync, nothing about you ever leaves your device. When you do opt in, authentication is handled by Sign in with Apple (via Firebase Authentication) — we never see or store a password.

Can I read offline?

Yes. The King James Version (KJV, 31,102 verses) is bundled directly inside the app and works with no network at any time. Other translations — NVT (Nova Versão Transformadora), NVI (Nova Versão Internacional), and ARA (Almeida Revista e Atualizada) — are downloaded on first use and then available offline. Audio files for translations that support audio are streamed by default but can be downloaded for offline playback from the audio player’s menu.

How do I enable audio?

Tap the play icon in the reader toolbar. Audio is currently available for:

  • NVT (Portuguese) — per-chapter audio with verse-by-verse sync
  • NVI (Portuguese) — per-chapter audio with verse-by-verse sync

KJV (English) and ARA (Portuguese) do not have audio in this release. The play icon is hidden when you’re reading a translation that has no audio track. Audio supports background playback and lock-screen controls.

How do I search the Bible?

Tap the magnifying-glass icon in the reader toolbar to open the search sheet. You can type a keyword (“love”) or a reference (“John 3:16”) — tapping a result takes you straight to that verse.

Which translations are supported?

TranslationCodeLanguageCopyrightAudio
King James VersionKJVEnglishPublic domainNo
Nova Versão TransformadoraNVTPortuguese© Editora Mundo Cristão (used under licence)Yes
Nova Versão InternacionalNVIPortuguese© Bíblica Inc. (used under licence)Yes
Almeida Revista e AtualizadaARAPortuguese© Sociedade Bíblica do Brasil (used under licence)No

Every licensed translation shows its publisher copyright notice at the chapter footer in the app, and the translation picker displays a licence badge so you can confirm at a glance. We add new translations only when we have explicit permission from the rights holder. If a translation you’d like to see is missing, let us know at support@ktaba.app.

Do you have an Android version?

Not for v1.0. Ktaba is currently iOS only (iPhone and iPad). Android is on our longer-term roadmap but has no scheduled date.

Does Ktaba cost money?

No. Ktaba is completely free at launch — no subscriptions, no in-app purchases, no ads, no premium tier.

Account deletion

App Store Review Guideline 5.1.1(v): apps that let you create an account must also let you delete it. This section explains exactly how.

You can delete your Ktaba account and all associated cloud-synced data in two ways:

1. From inside the app (preferred)

  1. Open Ktaba on your iPhone or iPad.
  2. Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account.
  3. Read the confirmation screen, which lists everything that will be removed.
  4. Tap Delete Account and confirm with Face ID / Touch ID / device passcode.

Once you confirm, we:

  • Sign you out immediately on every device.
  • Delete your email, display name, Apple user ID, and all synced annotations, highlights, notes, bookmarks, and reading progress from our servers within 30 days.
  • Revoke any active Firebase Cloud Messaging push tokens.

Data stored locally on your device (anything you created while sync was off, or before you signed in) is not touched by an account-deletion request. To remove that, uninstall the app — iOS will delete its sandbox and everything inside it.

2. By email (fallback)

If you can’t open the app — lost device, app removed, account locked out — write to privacy@ktaba.app from the email address associated with your account and include:

  • Subject: Account Deletion Request – Ktaba
  • Body: “Please delete my Ktaba account and all associated synced data.”

We will verify that the sender owns the account (Sign in with Apple usually gives you a relay address — make sure you write from whichever address you see in Settings → Account on your device) and delete within 30 days. You’ll receive a written confirmation once the deletion completes.

Anonymised analytics and crash data that is not linkable to you may be retained — see the Privacy Policy §7 for details.

Data portability

We export your user content on request, free of charge, in a machine-readable JSON format. The export includes:

  • All highlights (book, chapter, verse range, colour, timestamp)
  • All notes (text, attached passage, timestamp)
  • All bookmarks
  • Reading-plan selections and completion state
  • Reading history and current position per translation

To request an export, email privacy@ktaba.app with the subject Data Export Request – Ktaba from the account’s email address. We’ll send a download link within 30 days. The link expires after 7 days for security.

An in-app export feature is planned but is not part of the v1.0 release.

Bug reports

Found a bug? Please email support@ktaba.app with a description and the information below — it dramatically speeds up our diagnosis:

  • Device (e.g. iPhone 15 Pro, iPad Air 11”)
  • iOS version (Settings → General → About)
  • App version (Settings → About inside Ktaba)
  • Steps to reproduce — what you did right before it happened
  • Screenshot or screen recording, if possible
  • Whether the bug is consistent or only happens sometimes

If you can, please share the exact reference you were reading (e.g. “Psalm 119:88, NVT audio”) — several past audio-sync bugs were reproducible only in specific chapters.

We triage reports by severity: crashes and data loss first, then accessibility and sync, then UI polish.

Privacy-specific requests

For GDPR, CCPA, or CPRA requests — including access, rectification, deletion, restriction, or portability of your personal data — email privacy@ktaba.app with a description of your request. Our full data-handling commitments are documented in the Privacy Policy, particularly sections 8 (Your Rights), 9 (California Privacy Rights), and 10 (EU/EEA Specific Rights).

We respond within 30 days of receiving a verified request, and never charge a fee for rights requests.

Still stuck?

If none of the above solves your problem, write to support@ktaba.app describing what you tried and what happened. A human reads every message.
